Ellie Robinson is a Naarm/Melbourne-based music and pop culture writer/editor, dog connoisseur and giant dork, working as Commercial Editorial Manager across The Music, Purple Sneakers, Kill Your Stereo and Countrytown. Her work has also been published globally in flagship publications like NME, Junkee, Australian Guitar, BLUNT and Mixdown, and she’s scribbled up copy for record labels like UNFD, Domestic La La and Cooking Vinyl.
Ellie gravitates closest to emo (all waves), alternative and pop rock, but she’s just as big a fiend for dubstep, country, hyperpop, indie… Her ears know no bounds. As a writer, she’s passionate about exploring the ways creativity is informed by identity; she’s devoted to amplifying the voices of queer and trans artists, destigmatising mental illness, fighting for social justice and mining from the philosophical and spiritual sides of art.
When she’s not writing, Ellie can be found fawning over vinyl records, enamel pins and plushies (shoutout to Blåhaj, the most iconic trans ally), snuggling up to her dog, or getting way too hyped over the latest MCU movie/show. And yes, she knows she did the horns facing the wrong way – she cannot, in fact, name three Metallica songs.
You can keep up with Ellie on her website, Twitter and Instagram.
